Edit

Waste of time, mods clearly don't care.

I think you are be unfair on the mods. They all have lives beyond the Forum and cannot be expected to reply very quickly. For all we know the offending member has been warned.

Totally appreciate that! Having seen most mods have viewed the thread and not replied that's why I edited my post. When it's been going on for over a year now I find it hard to see how it's not evidently been policed, hence the original post. I know a few people who have left the forum because of such trolls which is a shame hence having a bee in my bonnet about it, I guess you haven't been subject to more than one occasion now where the offender has crapped all over a for sale thread so I hope you can see where I am coming from.

I do totally understand where you're coming from. Whilst accepting others' comments about free speech etc, it really does boil my p!$$ that a small minority deliberately attempt to upset/p!$$ off members - I just don't understand what they get out of it.

I don't think that you helped your cause by deleting the original post, but of course was your prerogative.

Forget it Jamie , ultimately it boils down to plain ignorance & general bad manners , that will always annoy some but not others

I have done mate, hence deleting the original post :D

At least most of you seem to have the common courtesy to acknowledge where I'm coming from 8)

censoring a public forum and expelling members I think is the wrong thing to do.
100% agree but unfortunately in the case of El Taco ( the last member i can recall being banned) the voices of a minority got him red carded

Why not use the foe function so you dont see their posts, that's what I did for myself :)

Tim.

Good shout.

I've heard the member in question is on a final warning anyway so doubt it'll carry on much longer with his inability to cause trouble.

El taco was my all time favourite, maybe Marlon could do a poll to see if we should reinstate him :D

To be honest this isn't the worst offence I've seen from this culprit and I understand what others are saying about free speech on here. But typically his remarks aren't really mean't to be helpful, informative or jovial. They're just his usual nastiness and piss taking trolling. Don't know the guy but it smacks of small man syndrome. Maybe we need a football (sorry soccer for our american friend's! :P ) style cumulative effect of yellow carding. Persistent infringing gets you booked even if each individual incident wouldn't.

He was before my time, but I heard word of his legendary trolling and have read back all his posts - top class entertainment :)

I've seen a couple of instances where people have taken things too far, but it is a public forum, that said, some people just have no standards or respect - the option to delete posts if you're a thread owner would be very useful.

that would be akin to censorship.

on another forum i am on. nobody apart from the advertiser and people interested in buying are allowed to post. if anybody else does they are suspended with suspensions increasing with each offence.

this can go the other way though. i posted in a thread about a plasma tv someone was trying to sell. i warned them and any potential buyers that the tv must be transported vertically / standing. so not flat in a boot or estate, etc. this is not commonly known by those who know nothing about tv's (most people). my post was deleted.

there should be a middle ground

That is an interesting example of how following rules can be self defeating.

Regarding the 'middle ground', I believe the mods do an excellent job of finding the middle ground on this forum.
Of course when walking the middle ground you have to accept there will be some who take the more extreme paths, but that is the price we pay if we want a forum that isn't heavily policed.

He went quiet for a while I assume he sold up from his flickr feed but seems hes back and as helpful as ever
