ABSOLUTELY GUTTED! ACCIDENT :( - THE DISCUSSION THREAD

Lucy, the next female who posts a picture of herself in a bra will get a similar amount of attention, nobody really gives a stuff about your little accident! If you want to be taken seriously re register, if not just carry on and you will be known as the bird in her underwear who crashed.

Sorry if the truth hurts, but can we just let this sorry thread die a death now?

Thanks for your kind message.

I honestly don't know where on the forum in the 7 months i've been here i haven't been taken seriously. If i hadn't i probably wouldn't still be here. Especially not with over 900 posts. I hate sexism. I hate it when people think women can't find their way around an engine just because they've got boobs and a manicure. Oh i hope you all take me seriously when you see me at the BMW Festival tomorrow! :(

And this thread has been completely on topic all the way through except for the last page or 2. I guess there was just a lot to talk about - from the accident, to what was happening with it, to getting it back, and a lot of nice messages of concern for me. So i don't know where it comes across that people 'don't give a stuff about my accident' I think you may be the only one. Maybe you would prefer it if the lorry hadn't stopped in time so i wouldn't have been able to make this thread?

There are a lot of great people on this forum, i've made some lovely friends and I'd like to think that any other forum member would get the same support no matter what they look like or what sex they are. Speaking of, i'd just like to say thanks again for everyone's messages i really appreciate them :)

Ps. I'm sorry that i'm a young female car enthusiast that takes care of her appearance.

zedrider the only person to make this thread meaningless is u with ur insulting and hurtful remarks. I hope the mos remove ur post or ur membership so the rest of us can get on with being part of a great forum with great members. See u all at the show tomorrow (hopefully not including zedrider!)

Lets all have a reality check. Does anybody think this thread would have made it past 3 or 4 pages if a guy had been in the same shunt?

There are 900+ posts on here for a reason!(I will resist the obvious sexist pun.) I am pleased that you know your way around a motor and I am not bothered about your appearance, however, a considerable number of the guys contributing to this thread clearly are....that is why it's up to 20+ pages (and reflects poorly on us males.) You say you hate sexism but dont you think your lower signature picture encourages exactly that? Unfortunately it's just the world we live in, and particularly in a male dominated forum such as this.

Of course you should be able to show any picture you like but first impressions count and although they are rarely accurate they have a lasting effect. Just don't think that all the contributers here would have shown the same amount of compassion if a bloke had been at the wheel and not you.

Anyway, have a good weekend.

PS. Sammyz, I'm not a misogynist or a lesbian, just your standard male with a commitement phobia!

Regards, Zed.

My first impressions (as many of ours are) were made when i actually met Lucy. When a friend, regardless of gener, has an accident concern is only natural. Also with being a z4 forum interest in the repair of lucy's z is again to be expeced!
This is an active and friendly place nd the concern members have shown here is one of the thimgs taht makes it great.

well if u insist!

I do understand what you are saying but it's 2009, not 1929. The way you came across in your post was as one of those men who think that women should get paid less than men for doing the same job, or that women shouldn't work at all because they should be in the kitchen all day and banging loads of kids out. And i felt very insulted by it.

Perhaps i should put my haulage company on the market, because let's face it, it's a man's environment just like this forum and i shouldn't be in it. Become a hairdresser and i'll sell my Z4 to buy a pink Vauxhall Tigra. And i'll not go out for beers with the guys again. Infact at 21 i should be married with 3 kids by now like they used to. That's the way it made me feel. But that's not me, i'm not really bothered about marriage and i never want kids. Most of my friends are men and my appearance or sex does not bother them in the slightest. We go out for beers, take the piss out of eachother, have our heads under car bonnets... i basically get treated like one of the guys, and i like it. Which is why i was very insulted by your post.

I don't see why people on this forum wouldn't express as much concern if it were a man in my position. We all have Z4's and as Paddy said, are all interested in the outcome of this horrible incident.

As for my picture, all i did was choose one of my favourite pictures of myself and chop the body off as much as possible so it was as near to a headshot as possible. Other people on this forum have pictures of themselves up and no one is bothered by it. And i'd like this to be the last said of mine. I'm just a confident young woman with more testosterone than others

You enjoy your weekend too. Although i've had a dampener put on mine as i've just washed my car and it started raining just as i was finishing drying it :(

I hope this is the last said on the subject now :)

Thanks for your last post Lucy. My first post was not meant to insult but certainly does come across as very harsh so I apologise for that. Reading between the lines I think you are shrewd enough to see my point though.

Anyway, as you say subject closed.

Zed.

Weird end to the thread! Car looks good though, back and all shiny again! Will try and get a look at it at Gaydon tomorrow!

Any more pictures of you without the cropping?

Well going back to original purpose of this strand....... saw the car at the Festival today and it looks great Lucy. (and no Zedrider...I am not influenced by Lucy's picture!)

In the interests of fairness, the next bloke on this forum to have a decent sized crash will be expected to start a post about it with regular photos & updates. If the post fails to reach 20 pages, Zedrider is owed an apology. The gentleman who crashes may post a carefully cropped semi-naked picture if they feel it will help with additional posts. Fair?

As my tyres are now nearly down to the wear bars, the star of this experiment might be me if the Yorkshire meet next week has an overly enthusiastic drive. :o

Nothing wrong with that picture, and anyway she s young enough to be my youngest daughter ( you had a bad time with women Zedrider ?) the quick semi retraction and remorse counts for little
I feel page 22 coming on !

Er.....Bradders, there are a few of us doing cadwell on the 21st....the next "decent sized crash" might be closer than you think....GULP...! :tumbleweed:
