I know there is a dealer feedback section in the forum however i'm waiting to see there response/assistance after this matter before i right up my results.

Basically my car was in for some warrenty work on the door handle and just got it back to find a few ripple type 'DENTS' :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: on the wing, also to cap it off the door handle has still the same problem. I phoned the garage and allready they have started to fob me of with 'our guys usually tell us if they damage a car' and the like. Car is booked in on Wednesday to have the part repaired 'again' and they said they will look at the dents then.

Looking for some advice form you guys/gals on what rights i have? I know they are going to plead ignorance the shower of b*****ds :headbang: :headbang: .

I've only owned the car a few weeks and one of the reasons i bought it was how clean and den't free the bodywork was!

Thanks for any help, and like i said i will be giving a full right-up in the dealer feedback forum when/if they resolve this.

Do you have any pics of the car w/dates to prove it's condition prior to your dropping it off? When I left mine at the dealership for a few days, I did a walk-around with both a mechanic and the service manager to document the condition of my car prior to leaving it there. And gave STRICT instructions it is NOT to be washed.

Please let us know how things turn out, and don't jump the gun just yet. They may really surprise you and you may be quite happy with the results :)

Hi fire-n-ice,

Your right enough on the jumping the gun bit, this is why i haven't started slating them, yet.

I do have one pic that shows the effected area with now damage taken in the garage i bought it from however there is now date on it and it isn't the best pic but im sure you can make out theres no dents.

I really hate to see these types of posts....
We take our cars to get fixed, not damaged further :x
& it just adds insult to injury that they didn't get the "fix" right either.

OT - but I have to add, one of the things that really impressed me about my dealer,
is when you pull the car in, they check you in by doing a walk around & documenting the condition of the car.

Feel for you mate that would upset me for months i to bought my car as a nice clean example and would be fuming if this happened.

When i picked mine up i had a quick look over but was to excited to notice much but the next day noticed they had caught the bottom of the front bumper while moving the car around nothing major but annoying when i mentioned this they said that it would have been reported by the driver :x like f**k they are going to say anything.

Hope you get this sorted and a very big sorry sir and some compo of some sort.

The wise after the event comments don't help, but my Bimmers are always collected from home inspected on the drive and returned here. That way everyone is sure where we stand. Same on damaged windscreens, etc.

OK so you've left the premises, already reported it and it's due in next week to be looked at so I think you now have to trust the dealer to do their customer service piece. You no doubt already signed paperwork to accept it back.

Now I'd have a good look and see if there is any evidence of other paint that you could collect before it's lost. Take some photos time stamped this afternoon. They prove nothing but how serious you are about it. Ask yourself how do you know it was not done before you took it in? That is your line with the dealer. How did the damage occur - have a thought. Did someone fall on it or was it driven into the wall, etc.. Are the wings or underneath covered in prints where they tried to fix it or is it surprisingly just polished? All rather futile but you'll build a picture up ready to approach tehm with. They'll respect a customer a lot more with a neat dossier on the counter, than a rant....

I had a similar incident with another car of mine. I contacted their corporate headquarters ( or upper management) and they sent out an appraiser and gave me a nice check. Hopefully they can do something similar. Also, call your insurance they can usually give the best advice.

I just posted a similar incident at my dealer. Brought it in for headlight replacement, and I get it back with a crack in my dashboard wood trim. Like, how the heck did that happen?

Anyways, since I've developed a healthy distrust of dealers, I did a walk around and interior 'look-around' prior to leaving the dealership, and that's when I noticed the crack. I reported it right away to the service manager, and luckily they took pictures right then and there, and then called me back later to tell me that they would replace it.

I think what makes me paranoid now with everything I do is that I work in a hospital. I see how many screw-ups and stupid things people do even when it comes to taking care of patients, so imagine how careless they can be when it comes to just fixing cars. I also see, every time I go to the dealer, all the 16-18 year olds who they send to pick up and deliver the cars. They drive our cars like they stole 'em!

It's at the point now where I even check my odometer before I drop it off to make sure nobody's taking it out for a joyride. Unfortunately, the long and short of it is, very few people take pride in their work.

And it goes on!

Went up to the STealer again today as i had the car booked in for 11 am. Phoned at 8.30 to confirm the appointment and confirm i could wait for the car as was suppose to be an hour job (and didn't want anymore dents). Managed to get a couple of hours of work (again, 3 times now), arrived at the garage to be told the part isn't there :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

As for the dents, talk about swept under the carpet, no proof no chance!!

Time for a chat with the service/branch manager i think.

I always want toasked the dealer to check my card when I leave it, but never pluck up courage, will be interested to see final outcome

what a PITA

That is absolutely not on. When you go to see the car it's 'Take a seat, Would you like a cup of coffee?'. After you've bought it its 'What you still doing here? Take you car and leave.' - Unbelievable. When I bought and collected my car about a month ago from the dealer, the coolant tank was empty and also the washer fluid and that's coming from a BMW main dealer :x
