ABS

The warning lights for ABS came on today on my 2007 Z4 2.5
I am told that the computer/hydraulic pump has gone down.
Can this be repaired or must it be a replacement job?

There were error codes specifically indicating failure? Don't go down this road unless that's definitely the issue, the pump is quite expensive. There does appear to be a repair kit available for half the price, I've no idea what's included or involved though.

It has been checked by my local Indie who has an excellent reputation, so I think it is needed.
I am told by BMW dealer, there is not a repair kit for the model.

it could be a variety of things, and only one light on sounds positive. My advice? Have an auto electrician or BMW get you an actual fault code. That way if its a wheel sensor or something nice and cheap, you will be OK

controllers are very expensive and not easy to source secondhand

that a pain

what is the part number on the front of the black square (the controller) it probably starts 3452 or 3451

you can pick them up 2nd hand for 300 or so - but they are hard to find

it does seem that a lot of 2007 2.5 z4s have had this problem
Mine did exactly the same, pulled the fuses, did the right lock/left lock trick and reset the tire pressure monitor. next start up and all lights gone! Worth a try as I have read that if the Z sees a tire low on pressure it flags up the lights. mine happened about 4 weeks ago and hasn't happened since.

If you start the car, turn the wheel slowly all the way to the right and then all the way to the the left, then straighten wheel and drive straight for a while it apparently resets the steering wheel angle sensor. I did mine along with the tire pressure reset as well and it fixed my problem. There is another post on here about it somewhere. i will try and find it

Hi

What 3 lights came on?

2 weeks ago I had abs, tc and handbrake light on

Found this post with someone with the same problem

http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=58447

I took my car to an Indy and he had a quick look but I need to book it in to find out for certain but e said the computer couldn't connect to abs controller so he thinks it's broken. I mentioned about the pump and he said it's not really a problem with the z4 but is on the 1 series. Gonna try that left right fix as my lights did turn off couple of days ago but did return on again recently.

Well, took for a test drive.
Lasted about 50 yards.
Tried the reset again but nothing. Looks like an ECU
Could it be a dirty wheel sensor? There is another thread on here with pics showing how to clean them.
hope you get it sorted.
