ABS / DSC fault

So I’ve periodically had the yellow handbrake and traction control light come on.

It’s gone off on its own eventually but I bought a c110 scanner to see if I could work out what the issue is.

So I get codes 5DF4, 5E19, 5E20 and 5E21

These point to both pressure sensors, which would seem strange that both are faulty, pointing to the module itself?

So I changed both sensors today, hoping I might get lucky but the codes are still there although no lights on the dash!?

Before I look at a refurbed unit, would it be worth changing the wheel speed sensors or is it looking more likely to be the abs pump unit?

Any advice welcomed

Did you actively clear the codes?

Yeah tried a few times and same codes without even driving or touching the brakes which I found odd.

Changing the sensors did bring the readings for sensor 1 and 2 to the same number with brake peddle pressed / depressed

Below is the reading before I changed the sensorsBB27F0F2-97AF-46B7-89F7-3159FDF90F45.jpeg

If you are able to get a laptop plugged in running ISTA there are some great test procedures on there that can help narrow down the fault.
The ABS pump can be commanded on to test whether is has suffered the common brush failure.

Maybe there is someone local to you with a working copy of ISTA. Where abouts are you based?

Edit:
Worth noting that I had similar problems that were fixed by simply cleaning the wheel speed sensors.
I don't think I had those exact codes though.
The codes that were present really didn't point to a wheel speed sensor though so it's worth inspecting them for crud or damage.

Happy to help mate

I'm just north of Northampton so maybe a tad too far but if you don't get things sorted I'm sure someone closer will offer some assistance.

Cleaning those wheel sensors would be my next action before suspecting the pump :)

Am I right in thinking the front sensors are same part number for left / right and also rears are the same number for left/right?

Realoem suggests that the rears are both the same part number but the fronts are handed and both have different numbers.

I am not sure what the actual difference is though. Probably just the placement of the sensor within the housing.

They are quite durable, resistant parts but care must be taken not the destroy them when prying then out of the hub. Lots of penetrating oil and patience goes a long way.

Be warned, the bolts are made of some sort of hard cheese... They snap off at the mear sight of a ratchet.
