About to sell z4 to buy a Boxster, advice needed

What have they done to that poor Boxster? I know it's the 2.5, but they still didn't have to be so mean!

Well the web site's not in my first language so a challenge to read, but some pretty pictures.
Frankly it looks like a standard car with a lot of bits bolted on and IMHO such cars that look like this are used by street racer types and it wil have been thrashed to an inch of its life. Just a wild generalisation I know.

My only Porsche experience is my buddy in the US who jokes with good reason that each time he goes to the dealers they take $5,000 off him - that's te reality of a Porsche

2003 Z4 drop a lot with a new model coming out - I really don't think so. Given how little they are currenlty worth the damage is done. If anything I bet they firm up over Spring/ Summer drop a bit in Autumn and rise in 2010 as we head out of recession. I'm talking the older one's - the new to 2 year may drop as they are a slightly different owner.

If you must have a Boxster go buy a clean untouched loved version or one with a quality warranty and stop convincing yourself you need this car.

but the seller said all these would be taken care of once we come to an agreement

That, imho, is a run for the hills and don't look back statement.

Honestly, if they are serious about selling they would fix it first, not get your money then bodge it.

this rui person could just be pullin' everyones' leg around here. :fuelfire:

maybe this could be in the "other cars" section? but yes. to each his own!

keep the zed. drop 10k into it and put a supercharger in it. just my opinion.

I thinck the car looks good with the wild bodykit however a 2.5 with triptronic tranny means Z4. 2.0i performance :).... If you look that fast, fancy or brave I think your car should be at least as powerfull as an M series BMW. :driving:

I think you should avoid that car. Try and find a unmolested Boxster S, then at least you'll have some decent performance. Or a nice Honda S2000??

sorry dude, thats a bid thumbs down for me.

I also considered a boxster before the Z4, the earliest i wanted was a 2003 due to many many horror stories i have read about the older cars.

That shape IMO also looks way outdated now.

Trying to sell a LHD Auto 2.5 highly modified (and of very niche taste) 1998 Boxster in the UK would be a nightmare, you would have to practically give it away.

It sounds like yyou have made your choice on getting rid of the Z4 which is fine, but i would seriously see what else is out there.

Look on Autoquake.com, i nearly bought a 2005 2.7 Boxster (new shape) for £13000 a few months ago.

Its your cash though at the end of the day though :)

Wouldn't touch it, 2.5 boxster's are dog slow and very old now. Plastic rear screen and roof will also likely need replacing at high cost.

Could easily turn into a money pit :(

i looked really hard at the boxter before i bought my Z, i read a great deal on them online, can't remember it all,but cost of ownership was one thing, they tend to have some issues, especially an older car, i know what you mean about lust,i was lusting after a 91' porsche carrerra 2 coupe,red/sunroof,beautiful car, could have bought it ,but in the end decided for the Z,if you're tired of the way your Z looks, why not freshen it up,do the front end replacemnet,etc.., if the car has been good to you,ie.. reliable ,in my opinion ,i would keep the Z, and just mod it,the boxter could quickly turn into a money pit ,even after it passes third party inspection, maybe if it was 4-6 years old, wouldn't be so bad.

NO no, i'm not pulling anyone's leg, just that i thought if i placed it there it wouldn't get as many views and responses, thus beating the purpose of getting advice from the forum.

haha, no. I live in Taiwan. I grew up in the states, moved back after 20 years, bought the zed with me as well. For some reason i landed in this forum, lurked a bit, and became a daily reader, i think the English have an interesting sense of humor and have a bit more appreciation for small roadsters.

No question here, supercharge and add body kit to the Z ( if you want a body kitted car) , a far better option, that Boxter just smells of big trouble, big bills and sounds like it's already pretty worn out. It is potentially a very expensive lemon, steer well clear of it my friend.
