I was actually in the market for a roadster, 2.5si or similar so I don't know a huge amount about the coupe, though have always loved the shape! I'm sure this lack of knowledge will change soon I don't actually have the VIN to check the options list, but I know it doesn't include cruise control But thank you for the welcome! Will post some pictures up for a proper introduction when I collect it!
I would say you made the right choice, but I'm biased! I've just never liked convertibles, so for me it had to be a Coupe! Which just looks so much better to me in every way - plus Coupes only come with the 3 litre engine or the M!![]()
I run a 325ti Compact as a daily and it has parking sensors, multi-function steering wheel and cruise as standard yet they were all options on the E86?
You could always sneak down to look at the visible VIN - you just need the last 7 characters for a site like bmw-vin. But that isn't always the full story, as my current one has cruise and parking sensors, but wasn't built with either so they must have been retro-fitted!
A few members have added cruise (I think the parts - stalk and a bit of wiring loom - are about £120) but you need to solder the wiring into the original loom.
If the weather is good take it home the long way when you collect it, and if you get a chance chase the red-line once it has warmed up - they do like to get going!
Hahah! At the moment I definitely feel like I made the right choice. Couldn't walk away without looking back at it! I do love both the roadster and the coupe though! Just a nice coupe was usually out of my price range, so always discounted them!
Unfortunately it's garaged, so I wouldn't be able to do a sneaky drive by, but I might be picking it up boxing day anyway!
Madness with the options, you'd have thought they'd also be standard on the e86, as you say! I did look into cruise control, shame it's not as easy as it is on pre-facelift e85s! Think I'll definitely be finding any excuse to take it for a drive!
