? about CPO Z4

Hello, I'm new to the forum and I have a question. I really like the Z4 and want to buy one. I search BMW's website for certified pre-owned and found one that is CPO. I have a deposit on it and the salesman faxed over a copy of the certification paperwork and the work order for the maintenance performed.

The paperwork shows that the convertible top motor was replaced and the tech noted that water was found in the housing for the power top's motor. I know that the previous owner drove the car recently in the winter. Just wondering what you all thought. Is the fact that the top's motor was replaced a red flag? Is it odd that the tech noted that water was found in the housing for power top's motor?

thanks,
SR

Seems very common for pre facelifts to need motor replacing due to water ingress (poor design).

I'd see the motor having been changed already on a pre face lift as a positive as could potentially save you the cost further down the line (assuming the revised motor fitted)

hello and welcome

from what i have read about the roadsters, i would say its a positive that motor as been replaced, others may correct me, but i think the new motor is a different design and it won't fail due to water

Welcome to the Forum - if the roof motors been replaced good news in my opinion (as Taz x). Theres a pre purchase check list link in my signature which is worth working througfh to ensure you get a good buy. And definately a Z4...

easiest way to solve that problem - Coupe

When the roof motor goes we essentially get 'downgraded' to a coupe :poke:

As others have said - see it as a bonus. I brought a facelift model specifically to avoid this issue, but it looks like it affects them too :x ( find out for sure later this week )
