AAARRGGGHHH !

Add me to the list of broken springs ! just bought a set of Eibachs to replace the chocolate BMW ones ! Has anyone done the same ? whats the cost of fitting the springs ? does it handle better or no different ? thanks

id say around £200 from an independant, thats how much it cost me anyways! the ride seems better i reckon and the wheels fill the arch better now its lowered

The ride at low to moderate speed seems better - less "nervous" and more planted over those irritating patches and bumps in the road.
As for better roadholding at the limit, I am not yet able to say either way - need more data :driving:
The car is definitely lower - 20mm in front and 10mm at the rear according to the Eibach catalogue. I noticed one particular entrance I use now has the front touching the tar, where that never happened before.

The look better, but i don't think the ride is any better or the handling for that matter. I fitted springs and 19's at the same time tho, so in reality i can't gauge it fairly.

What did you all do about getting the car to the garage with the broken spring ? drive it there ? or get it towed/low loader ? dont want to damage anything else hence the slightly stupid question :)

Most poeple can drive for months on a broken spring as they don't know its broken! I just got my rear right replaced and I know its been broken for around 2-3 months so I wouldn't worry about driving it to the garage :)

My springs have been broken for months - its no biggie...it was perfectly common in the old days before lowered springs were available for herberts to just chop an inch or two out of the existing springs and stick them back on.

So the effect is really the same as fitting lowering springs but a tad harder ride is all. Most people only know they've broken one when they either hear the tinkle as the bit falls out, or their garage tells them.

ok thaks for that i must admit i only ever modded my former cars with tuv approved parts so it will be ok to drive to the garage ! saves me a few quid ! thanks for the help :D

Drove on for at least 5months no prob, freind fitted we me helping 20min job charged me £25 to do job :D
