A698 hard top has hit

If it stops operating after the rear lid I would suspect the hall sensors. If they don’t tell the ECU it is fully open the next stage will not start.

Currently fully working no warning errors and opens/closes just errors when I read the codes

Will order the other sensors this week

:D Well left the z for a couple of days

Went out today too down no errors

Roof working up and down

Read codes no errors :D :D

See if it lasts

Just picked up hall sensors and roof is fine wondering whether to replace now as have everything out of the boot or not

Do you also now which wires have to match up?

My experience on both my E89s with the micro switches is that it seems that they ‘dry’ out with the weather / garage and a bit of use…

I’ve had both cars exhibiting the ‘classic’ micro switches issues..but..then after drying out / garaging faults disappear..go figure..I now have 4 micro switches on hot stand by..

From my experience the brown wire is 12v and the other colour is the signal wire to the roof module. As it’s a hall sensor it’s not an on off switch but drops the voltage to around 2volts.

Well been out again and although roof working the a698 error is back :fuelfire: :( :headbang:

2 error codes presumably both sides although these are brand new bmw

So just to clarify. You have changed the two micro switches in the boot either side on the boot hatch forward locking mech.

But not the two hall sensors on the underside of the right hand ram?

Yes correct got the hall sensors today will look to change the hall sensors tomorrow

Just take a photo of the orientation so the wires are routed correctly. I didn’t and one became snagged so had to replace it. Happy to chat if you need any pointers. Working on my van all day so I’ll be available. PM me for contact if you need it😎👍
