With everyone having cameras on their phones we have pics and videos of events that we wouldn't have had back in the day.
If the papers didn't print they'd be on social media anyway, but do agree that sometimes we get to see too much.

Inevitable really and quite sad as most people go to airshows to see these aircraft perform as they were designed too. Just watching a flypast isn't quite the same. I agree safety has to be paramount but the very nature of the event like motor racing will never be 100% safe.

It's almost like an end of an era for airshows similar to the demise of Concorde following the Air France crash :(

It wasn't the crash that did for Concorde - there had been a refit and the aircraft (I'm told) was fit to fly for many more years - It was Air France who pulled the plug financially and as it was a one out , both out contract, it was a Bobs your uncle / game over !

Sorry if that's off topic - air shows as we know them may end due to this accident, but an accident didn't kill off Concorde.

It was the final nail in Concordes coffin though accident or not :(

Used to love watching Concorde at airshows especially touch landings and back up with the after burners on, the sound went straight through you.

The aircraft had had a refit and it was when Air France pulled the plug which meant that BA had no choice - our end was making money Air France weren't .
There were financial attraction when new aircraft were supplied.

Again I don't want this to go off topic but it is just fundamentally wrong to blame the Concorde crash for its withdrawal from service.

I know Concorde towards the end of its service just wasn't making financial sense but seemed a coincidence after the France crash they were all withdrawn from service and consigned to history. As I said the accident sealed it's demise.

Not what the experts of the Concorde displayed at Duxford told me Tim.
Then again they could be wrong, however that's what they told me and I would think they would have a better command of the facts than either of us.


It's not really very important when considering loss of life tho!
