A Zed and Four Porsches – a Euro Road Trip

Guys, your pictures and write up are excellent. We had an equally fantastic trip, it's a pity we missed each other in Baden Baden...flat battery on the ferry (bloody alarm !!) and horrendous tail-backs in Belgium put paid to that.

I'll get around to posting some pics soon although they won't be up to Tom's standards !

I've seen the text and the pics separately, but seeing it all together is fantastic. Nice one boys

It was an amazing experience, for all the reasons said above - and something I fully intend to do again with likeminded mates... For longer next time too ! I cannot recommend doing something like this enough to anyone who loves hooning in their Z - and you absolutely must do it with others, because sharing the experience is a huge part of it. Best thing for me apart from, well, pretty much everything ? That Wee Bing will remember this forever, and we'll be doing it together again for some time yet - maybe one day he and Tim will join us in their sports cars. How awesome would that be ?

Those photos are just a teaser though - Tom's got 700 more, and I know that there are some cracking shots of my car in there. A few of the best (group and singular) will be finding their way onto my wall for sure.

As an aside, Paul was very well behaved - he kept my keys and didn't set off with the car at all... I left some discrete markers in place to be sure  Though I think he sat in it a wee bit. I could smell clog polish the next morning :?

Amazing photos Tom, I've just returned from a very similar trip and would highly recommend doing some thing like this.

Great pics!

We just came back from our Eurotrip. Our route was roughly this https://goo.gl/maps/MGWb5 plus Stockholm - Luebeck -Stockholm
We took also road 500 from Baden-Baden to Freudenstadt.

Total about 4300 km. Zed was surprisingly comfortable, expected much worse (our first longer roadtrip with it).

Cheers for the pics Tom , although its only fired up my desire for a 997 that i had mangaged to suppress quite well for the last 12 months . . .

Would that be the cabriolet version of the 997?

No , most definitely not , the whole 911ness is built around the iconic silhouette for me so would have to be a coupe not vert when i do get one

Interesting, I see what you're saying but wouldn't you miss the top down experience of a roadster?

Ive had 911s previously & they are a different ownership experience :driving: that said i have now been "converted" to the benefits of roofless motoring & its a feature that adds to the pleasure of drives out .
I do like those new Boxsters as well :|

Of course not Mr W :friends:

Can't say I'm a massive Porsche fan yet, and it's just not financially feasible, but when a few more big life spends are out of the way then I reckon it's a direction I may be tempted to go.

I can see why you'd want a narrow boat over a 911 though :|

Looks a great trip and photo's. One thing with all these posts regarding meets and trips in general is there are rarely any names put to faces, is this on purpose or an oversight or just not really thought of? Be nice to see who's who if it's acceptable.

Mainly due to the possibility of the Inland Revenue scanning the forum 8) :D

There's no secrecy as to who's who, I guess we just don't think to say. In the petrol stop shot, left to right :

PVR, JaxZ4, TVR, Mrs JaxZ4, Tom's Dad, me, ZermattV and Wee Bing. Obviously Tom is the one taking the photo, so you can't see him. He's on the left in the photo of the five of them round his Dad's red 911. I guess they got a marmot to take that photo

I really should've thought of that, rookie error...

.....especially after Bing pointing the finger...

Just Tom stitched up really, as he uses his real name on the forum ;)
