First off i am not a dealer , i do like car's though & enjoy finding/buying them & getting them tiptop but ive just had a tot up & was slightly alarmed :?
9 vehicles in 12 months :o i doubt even Z4M-2006 can match that :D
Anyone get close ?

in order from 1st Jan to now

Silver V6 TT
X3
Audi A6
Astravan
Z3
330convertible
Alfa Brera
Z4
Blue TT V6

& i'm looking at switching my van for a newer one :D

so which would you have again?

I guess a 2nd V6 TT in 12 months says it all & the only reason i advertised the A6 Avant was 99 out of 100 miles was spent with mrs w driving solo & forever struggling to find a space big enough to park it  otherwise i would happily have another
Many slag the 4 rings off for being dull drivers but i genuinely enjoy being behind the wheel

I would never buy another Alfa though :? it didn't do any wrong but always felt fragile & looked way better than it drove

Thats a lot .. How much did you make / lose?

Can't say for the ones i still have (Z4, TT & van) but all the others i sold for more than i paid even if only by a few hundred £s , the Brera i was just happy to see go to a good home & managed £15 more than i paid  all it needed was aircon re-gas & my indy didn't charge me for that
The Z3 was the best with around £750 in 4 weeks

Christ, you're an absolute nutter!

I hate the selling/buying part of cars, so try and keep them as long as possible. I could not deal with 9 lots of tyre kickers every year

I love the process of buying and selling cars but likewise couldnt do it on a monthly basis.. (unless I quit my day job!)

Until the DVLA improve their changeover process its got to be such a faff going through that. Still variety is one of the keys to life. Have you ever considered becoming a registered trader? Its something that I was wondering about as a side business..

I'm 32 passed whne I was 17 last count up was 89 cars.. I've had a few since then.. The zed may even be my hundreth I need to check..

When do you cross the divide from a private sellar to a dealer? In the past I used to buy and sell cheap runners, then I thought the Dvla database might be used by the taxman to nail me so I stopped.

Where do you find them then Andy? One particular market?

:driving:

All the usual haunts , Gumtree, ebay,PH ,At & of course the forum , criteria is generally to ignore the mileage ( ideally around 90k) & go for low number of owners , condition & more importantly a history that is predominantly main dealer which would indicate that for the bulk of the miles whoever owned has not been afraid to maintain .
Its surprising just how many owners when selling lose interest or heart & offer up a rough diamond that really only needs time & effort to polish up

Looking back further i can say in the last 5 years i have broke even or made a few hundred on all cars barring a 2007 520d Msport tourer which i lost £1400 in 9 months & a 645Ci which fortunately i sold for £500 more than i paid but that only went partway to offset the £1100/£1200 i spent on repairs

That generally means i only keep a car 9-12 months but has meant zero depreciation motoring which can be one of the biggest costs in motoring :?

I would love to swap as regular as you because I think its great to experience different cars and lets face it the new car feeling doesn't last two minutes and I soon get bored and want another one...so fair play to you for living the dream

I used to always buy my daily runners from the car auction....always same criteria....mileage under 100k but history top of the list. I ended up always buying ex - lease ones and never had any issues....kept them too long to make money on though

Ok let's make it a round 10  the no family car caper lasted 3 weeks :P just wasn't a goer so had a sniff around yesterday & bought off a guy half a mile from home .
Mrs w was a big fan of the last one we had & this is a better example , better colour with lower miles & imo silly money

Its 2004 3.0 auto Sport spec ; 102k with heated leather & phone prep , last owner for 6 years has a stamp in the book every year along with MOT & insp 1 was done last month / / £4200 :driving:
