I had a toe to toe row with the chairman of the business I worked for. I finished off by calling him an arrogant c**t who knew nothing about our business. After a short calming down I went to see my boss (the CEO) and said "Sorry boss, but I think I f**ked up". His words "Don't worry, he came and saw me and said you were the only one to stand up to him, he likes you" 
So let's hope it goes the same way for you

I happily heard my lead managed to finally stand up for himself and our team the day. We have a new time logging system that doesn't actually work in units of time... and rounds up or down to such an extent that you can loose an hour or so every week. He said thats not going to work, HR person remarked "aww didums"
It was met with a suitable tirade about the 100's of hours unpaid overtime the team members have done, whilst HR barely manages to cover the core hours. He got a sheepish apology soon after.
Well done, lets hope things go ok.

Reminds me of the day my previous General Manager told me my request for VR was being rejected. The look on his face was priceless as I said 'oh well you will have my resignation by the end of the day'.

Got a call this morning from himself oppologising for yesterday etc etc etc.
But then its an american company and they never appologise
so I'm assuming the appology really means he has no immediate solution other than keeping me happy ..........
Think it's time to look for another job.

Do you think your reference will mention what a bad influence your wife is?
I think he may have been a bit miffed about my reference to my wife being prettier than him ..........
