A Trip to maplins = fresh interior lighting

I popped into Maplins today on my way home from work after seeing a how to thread on Interior white LED's. I paid £6 for 5 white LED's which to be fair i could have made for half that price but it beats messing about.

I replaced the interior roof light and reading lights as well as the footwell lights. As i ran out of led's im going to get some more and replcae the number plate lights as the £25 kit from BMW seems pricey for what they are when you can do just as quick job using these.

Looks good - freshens up the interior. Do you know what model number you used? Do you get a light failure warning on the dash?
 
Hi there, there is no light failure warning on, i personally think this is a myth, I'm an electrical engineer and cant see why it would throw up any errors. I also aware that its only for headlight bulbs etc and not interior bulbs. Sorry I cant remember what model they were but was a pack of white for £5.99. 15 to 20 mins to fit, i am going to solder them in place tomorrow morning and seal them properly but i'm happy with the results.
 
Yeah there the ones, however if you don't want any hassle like i did of soldering use product code N87CQ, there a web order item only and i couldnt wait, these are just a straight fit to change for your existing bulbs.
 
so does this mean I can simply swap any of my interior lights with a T10 led bulb? obviously bulbs with a base, not wires hanging out.

this sounds too simple... but I love the crisp white of LED's
 
It's a simple as that. Basically it is the same principle as what I have done but easier as it's less faff. The led bulbs have a resistor in the bulb housing, where as the ones I made had the resistor
On the outside. I did it and it's error free, so pretty sure it will work very well. And at £6 its not the end of the world to change back. Just a few mins can make a whole world of difference.
