A Thumbs Up for the Immigration and Passport Service!

On the 21st August my wife dug out my passport for our forthcoming trip to Cyprus on 21 Sep and pointed out that it had expired earlier this year.

Availed myself of the check and send service at the Post Office on the 22 Aug 2012 (extra cost approx £8.00 seemed worth it)

Heard nothing but mindful there was an intervening bank holiday and it is still a peak period according to IPS info, I rang their helpline yesterday. Got through first time, pressed a few buttons and got to a human being fairly quickly. He confirmed that the passport was not received until 28 Aug. (Cheers Post Office that was a speedy delivery..not!) I was told that the application was awaiting checking. Chap said he would email the team responsible and alert them of my travel date.

Got home last night and found I had an email from IPS to say that it had been processed and had been passed for printing and advised me to allow 4-5 working days for it to arrive via their courier service. Happy that there had been progress but a little uncomfortable about the likely delivery date.

Got home tonight and new passport has been delivered all correct.

Well happy with service and looking forward to our hols

Nice to hear of something going well! I bet they'd appreciate a "well done" email as I expect all they normally get are complaints

X 2 Bet you're relieved to say the least! Have a great hols.

I've just arrived in Cleveland after a long day travelling from LHR via JFK, there was a nice argument going on when I checked in at JFK - some guy didn't realise you need a thing called a passport lol.

Nice to hear you had a good experience, I've only really heard bad things on those kinds of topics before now.

I was actually able to reply to the email they sent me (wasn't a no reply one) So I did to say with words to the effect that it had arrived safely and very many thanks for the prompt handling of my application folowing my query..

Their same-day service is very efficient, though appointment only.

Just make sure you have all documentation / photos etc... or prepare to be disappointed.
