Sorry to hijack thread slightly, but what's the performance of the Alpina? Are they in between coupe and M?
Rather than rehash old threads have a look at

Wouldn't put me off, as said it would show signs of leakage etc. I would want to replace the cracked badge on the seat and can't imagine that would be straight forward to do. Still a nice and cheap car, sure it will sell. Strangely the look f the alpine has grown on me over the years- really wasn't keen when they launched them, now it looks classic.

No lux pack, flimper Alpina does not do it for me ...
what exactly is the lux pack
According to the original spec sheets the Lux pack included Pro Nav, Xenons, Headlamp washers, PDC, Alpina wind deflector, Isofix, MFSW, Cruise, Bluetooth, CD Changer, Alpina leather dash and door trims, Alpina Dynamic 19" wheels

But, for the UK cars, the 19" wheels, leather dash and door trims were standard for all cars, so you didn't get as much for the cost of the Lux pack as our continental cousins. Then, in June 2005, Alpina increased the standard equipment of the UK cars to also include the CD Changer, Cruise Control, PDC & MFSW

The easy way to spot that the car has the Lux pack is the Nav system

I think the radio head unit also changed at some point. Mine being an early model (#019) has a slightly bronze-ish head unit consistent with the pre-facelift Z4, whereas I beleive some later Alpina's have the facelift black head unit capable of playing MP3 tracks, but I may later stand corrected

Yeah, but that's not an Alpina 'change', that was a change to the standard BMW equipment in the donor car so #320 has the MP3 compatible head unit - in the same way the last couple of UK cars gained the top-spec stereo that BMW started to fit to all the 3.0l donor cars.

I'm looking to change mine (along with the central air vent) to black, not jst for the functionality, but also because it looks better against eh black leather. Recently about £180 though on ebay

So anyway after all that are you going to go and take a peek? As said those photo's are off the Alpina register from a few years ago so that engine bay will probably be all cleaned up now by this current owner!! Its well worth a viewing, unless its a scam add....

I know you say you want to change stereo an vents to black , but if you just get the stereo the fascia is swappable so would save the need and cost of black vents

No, not me.

I just while away the time by looking at what's for sale.

Although if I was looking for another car, I would be tempted by this. But at the moment I'm more than happy with my Coupe.

so no nav means no lux pack which means less re salable value :(
Not necessarily, it's quite possible that, as they age, cars with the nav system may be seen as less desirable due to the added complexity and scarcity of spare parts - IMO, this would also apply to the ///M cars

It might kill PVR if he has to start admitting that flimper-spec cars are more desirable...

Hence why I got a spare screen for next to nothing from Germany - new. Was only £100 and I shared it with srhutch in case either of ours ever went wrong.

Hate the bland dash without all the extra functions that the screen brings for phone, computer and music functionality in addition to a very solid, fast satnav that always works rather than the p.o.s. TomTom and Garmin units I have that do weird routing all the time….

I've missed the boat with them and also Z4Ms - but that's why I thought that Alpina looked nice. Reasonable value for something a bit different to use as a daily driver.
