A strange thing happens....

I've put this up for general discussion as i don't see it to be a problem, more of a mystery!!?? I picked up a z4c before christmas so am just getting used to it but i can't work this out.

It happens sparadically, say 4-6 times of entering the car. When the car is locked, I open it with the key and just my drivers side window goes down fully. Then when I get in and close the door the window goes back up.

I can rule out, its not me holding the unlock button, which lowers both windows as only one window is coming down. I can also rule out pressing the button twice, three times or four as i've tried this. I am only using 1 key so its not preprogrammed to the key.

Has anyone else found anything similar?

Very odd!

You may need to reset the windows - my 'vert has done some very odd things from time to time (windows opening, dash lights turning off).
Currently, my 'onetouch-up/down' on the windows has switched sides to the passenger from the driver.

If someone can post the process to reset please, that would be great.

Don't have a coupe, but can day this hasnt ever happened with my roadster

Yep, same thing is happening with my Z4MC, they replaced the window motor... even tho it worked so don't understand that. It started after I had all the key programs turned on. Instead of resetting the software Its going in tomorrow to have the computer that controls it replaced... (or what ever it is) hope that fixes it. But mine goes down after its been locked too so I can't take it anywhere because it happens 5-10-15 mins later!

It's something to do with courtersey opening & programmable on the key.... ie making it easier to enter & exit the car in confined spaces.

Mine used to do exactly the same, when it felt like it, so had the 'feature' turned off when keys were reprogrammed... now behaves itself consistently.

Thats strange you say that about your one touch, as my passenger one touch stopped working the other day, but now it works!?

Scary thoughts for a new owner of replacing the motor, i spent all money on the car!

If its a courtersey thing then maybe it only does it when the pdc is picking something up? i'll try next time I take her out. Would be a good feature to have as the garage is pretty tight.

Most odd. Mine does this, but as a feature for when I press the unlock button twice before opening the door. Can't think why it'd do it randomly.

Mine does it when I push the open button twice, it's ment to do it!
