A strange audio set up (help needed)

For years I connected my iPhone to Bluetooth via an adapter plugged to the old iPod lead in the glove box. I few months ago it started playing up and making digital interference noise from the right channel. Works fine on CD or radio.

I’ve just got round to sorting it. I worked out if I leave the iPod interface box connected and I can unplug the audio plug (see image) and I can wire in an aux with one of the cheap aux leads.

My problem is there are 3 wires. Going into the connector block from the iPod interface box. I’ve got 3 wires from the new aux connection but different colours. I have them connected and it works but mostly to the left channel. Does anyone have any idea what pins I need to use?

Images show white plug from original iPod connection and the 3 wires.

Any help would be great!

The pin on the top row (white/brown) is ground (sleeve of the jack plug), the other two are left and right (tip and centre ring of a jack plug).

Connecting it in parallel to the box currently in there will probably drag down the signal which might be what is happening to your right channel.

To make a proper aux in cable you need a couple of capacitors and a resistor.
