A ridiculously cheap clutch mod that has transformed my E85 driving experience!

If it also doesn't work for me I’ll email him too. Strange that he’s selling for non-M cars but the thread isn’t correct. Its kind of the first thing you'd try to get right if you were producing model specific clutch stops.

I have sent him another email and he says he could do with a genuine e85 clutchstop,so ive agreed to let him send me a few different size stops i will find one that fits send the others back with my original stop.once he has the dimensions he sends my original back to me.
I am also willing to help a young business grow especially if hes making parts to improve our zeds

I can see from the photos in this link that this has a set of rings rather than a thread. This should be a fairly simple change - for example, with Autodesk Fusion 360, adding an M10 thread to a 10mm shaft is literally a two second job!

Stone me - I've just looked closely at my original one, and it's the same - rings rather than a thread. But I see also that it is flattened on two sides, as appears to be the case in your photos too. I unscrewed mine to remove it so I had assumed it was threaded. It's odd BMW chose to go for a push fit into a threaded hole - but it doesn't actually take any load and maybe it shaved half a euro cent off the production cost!

I always wondered why the M symbol was ///M. I see now that it's because the Ms have threaded clutch pedal stops!

My car is a 2004 E85 (2.5i) and I have just replaced the crappy plastic stop with a 50mm M10 coach bolt with a 30mm diam. cut out section of a tennis ball (with yellow furry bit removed) bonded to it The curvature of the inside of the cut out section is almost identical to the curvature of the head of the coach bolt and has been bonded to the coach bolt using super glue, the adhesion between the two parts is amazingly strong and cannot be pulled apart (cost less than £1) . With the addition of a locking nut I now have adjustment from a few millimetres up to the full length of the coach bolt. Best mod. I have ever implemented.

Just tried mine and no dice so emailed him. Old one unscrewed from position and the eBay replacement isnt the right gauge so simply pushes without holding.
Comparison of the two…

Response back from the seller. Said he’d had a few people commenting on this and was “experimenting with one of the buyers” so would send me a new one when ready or offer a refund. Happy to support the industrious, even though I could build something like this myself for a few quid.

Mine came through the door today, got the car booked at RBM for CDV delete and flush, so will fit it after that :)

I would say give it a go before CDV delete, I certainly didn't feel that much noticeable difference with CDV delete. Whereas with clutch stop the difference quite noticeable for the better.

Oh really? When I removed the CDV on my M2 it certainly made a difference in drivability and smoothness with the clutch. I am hoping for the same effect here given how tiny the hole is in that thing.

Yes it does. Didn't have a squash ball but plenty of tennis balls and the casing is slightly harder than a squash ball. I didn't fancy the £14 ebay solution as it was totally inflexible to height adjustment and still had the flimsy plastic thread as per the original. The coach bolt solution provides a very firm and fully adjustable back stop to compensate for different levels of clutch plate wear and to peoples own individual feel for the clutch biting point.
