A rattle!

The rattle seems to be in the boot behind the passenger seat and sounds as if the 'cage' is loose. It's worse with the roof up and quieter when it's down.

However, as far as I can tell, the cage is tight on its mountings and the black plastic hinge brackets aren't broken. I have noticed, though, that when the roof top & back window are in the boot, they compress the cage, which could account for the noise being less when the roof's down.

All this said, it could be damn all to do with the cage, of course.

Any help will be most welcome.

I posted the pics originally, i stuffed some plastic trim in the gap between the pillar trim and dash.
But later realised it wasn't needed.
The top right wedge needs some very thin felt on the sides of the triangle.
I think that was the biggest cause of noise, even BMW have "noise reduction" directive on it.

The mirror covers on my pulldown sunshades rattle like hell but not all the time. Thing is it sounds like the rattle is in the dash!

the fix shown on the pict solved it for me, though I had to apply two each side

when the road is such, it still ratttles a bit, but it occurs much less

It’s in the block of pics earlier in the thread, 2nd row down r/h side - it shows a felt pad stuck on the windscreen surround so the sun visor contacts with it when put away

Got it Rob, great idea, it looks like one of those sticky felt pads you can buy for the bottom of chair legs and the like....
