I just want to share my experiance with purchasing a personalised registration. I did not get it from the DVLA but used a company called New Reg.
The purchase was a surprise for my Girlfriend - an engagement gift.
So, first problem is that when I needed to extend the entitlement - another year as it was not on the car yet. New Reg send two letters and a phone call. Well, surprise is now over! (I had already sent the forms to the DVLA)
The DVLA charge £25 to extend the entitlement. New Reg keep their name on the certificate which means all transactions have to be done through them - this means a bloody £80 charge.
So, now I want to put the plate on the girlfriends car - I need to add her as a nomonee to the certificate. This is once again a DVLA charge of £25. Guess what - I have to call New Reg on a £1 per minute call to be told I have to send then £80.
So, I send the certificat back to New Reg with a long letter explaining my situation and how I feel riped off etc...
I asked them to call me on my mobile and I would pay with my card, I also asked them to consider waving their £55 admin charge.
Guess what the reply was....
I don't get a phone call, just a letter that reads " If you wish to change the Nominee details, please send us the £80"
Not even a hint that they got my letter!
Just to pi** me off more - I have just had a begging letter from a charity through the door - the ref number on it is my numberplate!
