A Newbie here, with a recently bought SMG Z4 3.0i SE

Beautiful colour, but then I would say that as my previous one was Toledo as well

I for one like the wood dash for some reason for me with that colour it just seems to work. In my silver z it wouldn't be right but Toledo blue and the wood goes well for me.

Is it an after market kit? Im not a fan to be honest...but its each to their own and it works better on the blue car than it would on the silver or greys...the American guys will probably love it tho.

Welcome along from another SMG owner & big fan - great colour you have there.

As an earlier post mentioned backing off the throttle very briefly when upchanging makes for super smooth shifts. Downshift blips are great fun with an excellent soundtrack too and can be done from either side with the heel of a hand or thumb.

Personally I always use the SMG paddles - never use the Auto mode at all, though will occasionally let it downshift when coming to a standstill etc. It's not really designed as a traditonal auto box so best used as an SMG. I also drive an Audi S4 with the S-tronic (VW DSG) box and whilst it changes even faster I think the SMG changes can be incredibly fast and smooth given this was relatively early flappy paddle technology - too easily dismissed by some. To date - 2 years ownership (from 18,000 to 31,000) miles I've had no problem whatsoever with the box.

Hope you keep loving it.

thanks for the reply..... yesterday i used flappy paddles all day ,up shifting just before the car got to 3000 revs in each gear, noticeably smoother.
