A new Z4M owner (continued)

Hi All

I've just swapped my lovely old '98 hell red 2.8 Z3 for a snarling but equally lovely imola red Z4M. I'll post some pics when I've cleaned it up. The last few days weather couldn't have been more perfect for introducing ourselves to each other.

I can't stop grinning.

Edit: Oh and it's got a lid :D

OK, used the Img button to link to a flickr image. Any ideas why this hasn't worked? This is the URL: http://www.flickr.com/photos/28988274@N04/5649835085/

You use the page URL address and what you need is the photo location.
Do an edit to see what I did...

Jesus, is that what Imola Red looks like??? :P MIght go and wash mine sometimes this week... The amount of flies, polen, road grime and dust you pick on a trip to the Ring is unbelievable.

Congrats on the car and most of all on the choice of colour!

If I am allowed to add a piece of advice, for the health of your new car:
1. Check the service records for engine oil and break fluid. If they are almost due, overdue or there's no record, replace them at once.
2. Replace the air filter if it's older than 15.000 Km, or there's no record for it.
3. Replace immediately the gearbox oil, regardless of your car's mileage - although it is called "lifetime oil". Buy the correct type from the dealer. You will also need two plugs p/n 23117531356. When I replaced the oil in mine, I couldn't believe how black the factory-filled one came out.
4. If your Z4M's mileage exceeds 50.000 Km, then also replace the differential oil. This one is also considered "lifetime". As above, buy the diff oil from the dealer. Aslo, two plugs p/n 33117525064 are needed.
5. For a mileage in excess of 50.000 Km, it is a good practice to replace the power steering oil. It's ATF. Since it is messy to remove it in full, it is acceptable to partially renew it. You can use a large syringe to extract as much ATF as possible from the power steering reservoir. You will be able to take out about 0.3 liter. Refill with brand new ATF, then run the car for a day, and the next day repeat the operation.
6. If the car is 3+ years old, then you may consider replacing the coolant, too.

Then enjoy your Z4 M :)

Thanks All!
RobertRO thanks for the info. They are good points and the car's under a main dealer BMW warranty.
Ari1856. Get a red one!!
