My son has just got his A-level results - 4 A*s so he's got his place at Oxford to read Physics

He's worked hard for this and I feel very proud of him

I did Physics too....
Cheers Nick - and that explains why you drive around at relativistic speeds, you're trying to see the effects of time dilation

He just does not realise that you can not hear your own doppler effect though ....

You will die laughing....I had an offer from Imperial College and Plymouth Poly.....I chose Plymouth as I didn't want to stay at home!!! Imagine how my life would have changed if......

Yes, I was at Imperial so you might have met me... good job you chose Plymouth

4 A*s - brilliant result, wow!

You must be very proud, and rightly so. Physics is a good option IMO.

chuff!

physics at oxford ... nice. i read physics and did a phd in the damn subject and sat in academia for a bit but by then i'd gone soft and moved into chem/biotec must have been mad :headbang: suggest to him that one of the best things he can do is take a few business modules to add a rounded edge to his skills.

The last bit is good advice, I did pure Computer Science with compiler design, operating system design and so forth. Real nerd stuff (all the others were nerds, not me of course)

The business modules I did actually made me half normal and enabled running a business with some "normal" knowledge as well.

Congratulations - bet you're really pleased and proud. Makes the foundation of a great deal of potential and opens so many doors

My daughter did similar 4 years ago. Since completed her Law degree and now law practice certificate and next week starts as a trainee corporate lawyer at the world's largest law firm. Just has to keep her nose clean for 2 years and she's made for life...
