I’ve had convertibles for decades. I tend to try and square up when arriving at junctions so I can see clearly. Also as SARS said you get used to straining forward to see properly.
The E89 did have slightly better with that extra window, but still had the same issue as the back pillar was huge compared to a regular car.
 
A fair comment. Yonks ago I had an R26.R and as you are clamped in with a harness (not possible to move shoulders) it was impossible to pull out safely at certain oblique angle crossings 😬
