Just watching A-Ha in concert on Iplayer - have recently reformed - been 30 yrs ago since their height of fame - sounds pretty good still and lead singer looks good for 56 :x

Old ones are always the best - they just did their version of an Everly Brothers hit Cryin in the Rain - that must have been released 50 years ago !!

Tempted to splash out on the IOW Festival again this year - The Who , Quo , Stereophonics and Queen headlining :D
 
As an eighties rocker it's bizarre to me that I've been an A-HA fan since they went 'big time' in the mid 80's, they had been going since the late 70's without too much international success until 'Take on me' shot them to fame. The last and third 'pink pop' album 'Stay on these roads' had an indication in a couple of songs of the direction they we're going, wanting to get away from the screaming teen girl thing and gettting more serious, shown on the 'Memorial beach' album. That, for me at least, although a good album, was the last of their good material. I find them quite frankly dull and boring now. Sure live they can do the old stuff but new songs are dreary. I saw them live in Sheffield years ago and it was a bit embarrassing as they just seemed they did'nt want to be there, no sparkle and just going through the motions. They split a year or two later before re-forming recently.

I still listen to their old, full of life stuff, but not the new, nothing I like about it. That's just me though and if anyone else likes them now that's great.
 
Thought I'd get kicked out of the forum for saying, but saw them at the Glasgow gig on Monday, my other half is a lifelong fan, they keep doing final tours, but actually they're quite good - if they don't end up killing each other :)

In reply to john-e89, I would agree - I guess I still like the "scoundrel days" album as their best work
