Back in June this year my zed was off the road for 2 weeks whilst waiting delivery of a part from BMW Germany which was on back order.

Waiting for me when I got home tonight was a parcel from BMW UK.

Waiting for me when I got home tonight was ... sweet FA!

True :nahnah: seems to be the usual BMW gesture (cracked wheels.. roof motors ... steering ... DISA .. Rear springs .. window lifters .. damp headlights .. lamp washers .. DSC ..ETC) but very nice on this occasion.

After 20 or so return visits in 2 years - including cracked wheels (4), failed lights (4), roof motors, dampers (2) I have ended up with a free 4th year warranty plus a £500 dealer credit - whatever use that will be. Nothing was volunteered and no apology for the dire service from the dealers.

Being sales orientated though the first response to a clearly dissatisfied customer was to try and sell me a new car so I would be tied to BMW for an extra 18 months!

Things will always go wrong in any walk of life - it's how they address those things that really matter!

I agree. Although I feel that far too much has gone wrong with the car it is not worth worrying about - it is only one car and at the end of the agreement I will never have to deal with either BMW or the dealer again. It is ludicrous to have to involve BMW GB and the dealer principal simply to get a warranty part needed for the car to be MoT'd on time.

Unlike Porsche I think BMW are very fair when it comes to looking after the customer, in the 1990's I owned a 5 series and after it was 13 months out of Warranty the engine failed due to the coating on the pistons that wore away,

I received a call to say they would be dropping off a courtesy car and there would be no charge for the new engine.

The mention of the days of old when you got a bunch of flowers when buying a car reminds me when about a year ago I bought my wife a year old Renault Megane Coupe from Premier Autos in Sandbach Cheshire
There service was magnificent, the car is brilliant and that also came with a huge beautiful bunch of flowers for my wife
Premier Autos is a small independent family owned car sales selling all makesf of used car and come highly recommended

I lived in Sandbach from 2010 to 2012 and I used to enjoy going and looking around the cars they had in that garage and its nice to hear the service is very good as their cars always seemed very good examples.
