A Genuine Question.

I notice on emails and forum postings that the content sometimes ends with details about how the message was transmitted. Not intending to single any one out but "Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk" is one that I have just read which piqued my curiosity. Others versions are available.

Being a little behind the curve in these matters can someone advise me if these devices set to do it themselves, are users partaking in a bit of the old "Techno Willy Waving" or is there something else I am missing.

It's normally a default signature added by devices / apps etc. You can turn it off / amend it or just leave it.

Some of the 'free/demo' versions have the 'signature' attached and offer to give you the option to remove it if you pay for the 'full/pro' version of the app.

You can delete the signature from email too, but most of the time it is handy to know.

If someone posts from their iPhone or Blackberry then it will usually be a poorly formatted message with multiple typos, and the 'signature message' is the reason as to why.

I always forgive rubbish email messages if they have been sent from a mobile device.

I took mine off a while back. All very pretentious IMO. I liken them to leaving car dealers stickers on your car.

My Ipad does it and I'm too lazy to stop it. it also EXplains some of the 0000 typos .

speaking of which, when I connect to the forum with the ipad I get a message about using an app, i think it 's tapatalk. It pisses me off, well just a little because I have to say no every time.
