A few Z4 questions

I've bought a new Z4 form a BMW garage and due to pick it up in the next few days.

The car is a pre reg on a 08 plate, Reg June 2008 - currently has 17 miles on the clock

I was wanting to visit this garage in Hull to have the mods done to be able to operate the roof with the key (or will this already work, not sure with it being a later model), beeps on locking etc,

I'm also interested in a hard top roof for it for the winter periods, the guy in the BMW garage said it wouldnt be compatible with a hard top roof as this needs to be requested for a factory order, is this correct, I thought you could vuy a hard top and just clip it on?
 
Congratulations on choosing the Z4.

The sales team should take you through a complete set of options to programme your car and keys. Ask for a print out of the possibilities and then work through that with them and as a new customer it had better be free!! They may refuse to do the roof opening on key, but I have heard some do it, other seek aftermarket companies to do it.

All UK cars are prepared for a hardtop roof so the dealer is talking rubbish. Dealers sell them as aftermarket and they are often advertised 2nd hand on ebay.

My hardtop was from the dealer but there are usually some on ebay or the odd one for sale on here. As far as I know the UK spec Z4 is ready to have a hardtop just placed in. All I do is place it into the two holes at the side and the two on the part where the soft top normally clips in.

Yes.... it stores away as usual and the hardtop simply fits on over it. As it's locked in it deactivates the roof mechanism and connects up the rear screen heater. If oyu have auto roof fnctions it also just operates the windoes

Congrats on the new Z. I also visited auto logic in Hull, well worth a trip. Hope you enjoy your car :D
