A few shots from my roadtrip through Iceland

Hello,

So I took my Z4 for a "spin" through the countryside. All in all, I must've driven about 2.500 km through various terrain. The Z4 did not disappoint, although I had a minor collision with an older lady driving a huge Land Cruiser.

The weather when we took of was okay at best; 13° C and slightly sunny. It didn't get much better than that and ended up in a torrent of rain that is still going on. We even had some snow residue in the highlands where most of these shots were taken. I'll have more shots later on!

I'm still on the road, but would like to share a few shots of the car for those interested!

Needless to say, the car was very dirty. Sorry about that!

Picturesque scenery. Reminds of the Norwegian "Trollhunter" film. Maybe it was not a lady in a Land Cruiser after all!

Fantastic shots of an amazing country.

How did you keep the Z looking so clean?

Too cold to have the roof down!?

Wow! Amazing looking place. Great Phots.

Just need the roof down on the next tour.

Sorry for the slow response, it's been a busy weekend.

Thanks for the comments! We pretty much had private use of the roads; we encountered other cars every 30 minutes or so. The weather wasn't all that great so the top didn't come off too often, sadly. But really, if you crank the heat up and if winds aren't too high, there is no excuse to keep that top up!

We had some small rain while driving with the top down, but at the speeds we were going (within the speed limit, usually) there wasn't a drop that got in our way.

Keeping the car clean wasn't really possible. The front was an insect graveyard, with tens of thousands of them glued in there. And sadly, the roads through Iceland aren't all paved (not even the "main road"), so we've had to drive through 100 km or so of gravel roads, which were usually traveled at 30 km/h or so but it still resulted in a whole lot of dust. But it rained a lot, so it was slightly clean at times. :)

The scenery we got was amazing. The eastern part of Iceland is sparsely populated due to the extremely rugged terrain. You're either in a desert of lava or surrounded by huge mountains expanding into massive fjords. In other words, not suitable for supporting human life but a feast for the eyes. It was otherworldly at times. I'll upload some more shots when I get home!

If you guys venturing to Iceland in a few days or months, feel free to throw some questions at me should they arrive! Hope you have a great trip over here!

PS. The lady in the Land Cruiser must've been a troll. She at least made an honest attempt at driving away from the scene and it sadly ended up with the police coming over and giving her a talk.
