A few questions!

Morning all.

There's a Z4 for sale near me, but it's been neglected.

1) how much is just the new roof motor?

2) if the M54 engine has missed an oil change or two, how do they handle it?

3) how often should the coolant be changed?

that'll do for the moment.... there'll be a lot more questions if I buy it :headbang:

Thanks!

1) if its a simple get going & relocate to boot £150ish ( £250-£300 if replacement required)
2) not ideal but doubt its harmed a M54, they are a robust engine
3) 2yrs - 4yrs wouldnt be out of the ordinary , these are 16-17yr old multi owner cars now & not every owner considers coolant change as part of a service. Its £30 job so get it done as a matter of course if no proof evident

Thanks Mr Wilks - sorry.... how much roughly is just the roof motor/pump?

A motor refurb will be about £150 mate as Mr wilks said. If it's a case where the motor is gone completely it'll need to be replaced which costs probably double that. I've only looked at a refurb and relocation of the motor to the boot which is about 150 quid. I've never looked at the cost of a new one but I've heard they're quite expensive from a dealers so going with what mr wilks said, I imagine those prices are likely OEM ones but either refurbed to a high standard or taken from donor Z4's.

Hmmmm. Just been to view the car.

14k miles and six years since last oil-change.

Amongst other issues, I decided to let someone else enjoy the car.

It's cheap to start with, I should say, but I'd have to chuck a load of money at it, and it'll never be worth much with that history, probably.

If the soon-to-be new owner is on here, let me know how the work progresses :)
