Is a PCV the same thing? It's just that I've read that newer N52's have something on the cylinder head that needs replacing while older cars have it under the intake manifold.
Remember, i am not that clever on the mechanics of this car!!
Yep that's the right kit... double check yours is external first though, if you have the metal valve cover it's external black plastic is built in! Post a pic of your engine if you're unsure, plenty on here will be able to confirm for you
First kit definitely isn't for you then as you've got the black plastic cover... pipes and ccv outlet do have a lot of gunk in them so need changing or removing and cleaning! Don't know anything about the ccv system on that one I'm afraid but the link you added implies you can service the ccv so might be worth a shot!? Hopefully someone else on here has experience of that particular ccv so can give a clearer indication of next steps?
I don’t know for sure, but I assume this is all there is for the later breather system. The earlier N52 (silver top) had an externally mounted breather valve, as shown here:
That shows three pipes, for which I assume one is the outlet from the cam cover, one is the ‘clean’ air going to the inlet manifold and the third pipe is a drain pipe for the separated oil to run back into the engine?
The later system (like yours) has the valve incorporated into the black cam cover so I assume the oil drain takes place internally to the cover and there needs to be only one pipe to run the separated air to the inlet manifold, as shown on the parts catalogue diagram.
I’ve not had cause to investigate this yet on my coupe, so stand by to be corrected....
