After reading the recent edition of Performance Car Mag (was bored at work and had finished EVO!) about the best UK driving roads, I decided to take the day off work (too many hol days left) and go for a drive. So I set off nice and early (6.20!) and headed up to the North Yorkshire Moors. I started off at Pickering and took the A170, before coming off and doing a loop from the mag past Rosedale abbey down to Hutton-le-Hole.
On top of the Moors

Then I went across towards Richmond, via a great road from Helmsley to Stokesley, and then Croft (although there wasn't much to see)

Then I picked up the B6270 towards Twaite

In the Dales by now, I took the Buttertubs Pass down to Hawes

Then the B6255 Hawes-Ingleton Road, another from the Mag. Going past the Ribblehead Viaduct

Then I picked up the A65 to Skipton, then Harrogate, before going home down the A1. I did nearly 400 miles, and had a seriously achey back by the end of the day! Great roads though, we should try and do a run up there. And the best bit was that it was extremely quiet due to being in the week. I'll be doing it again
