A clearcoat question

I could use some advice on repairing a small area of clear coat. My Zed has been de-badged but on one wing I can still see '2.5i' in missing clear coat. The colour coat seems fine: if I run my finger over the area, the colour coat is smooth. I think the clear coat needs built up to correct the problem.

Has anyone attempted anything like this?
 
Are you sure it isn't just an imprint in the lacquer where the badge use to be .If you have taken the badge off there should still be lacquer underneath .
 
Thanks, just to be clear the badged were removed by a previous owner. There is a definite imprint in the lacquer where the badge has been removed and it seems to me that this equates to the complete removal of a section of lacquer. So I suspect that it needs retouched with a clear coat, built up and then polished.

(Previously I wrote that the colour coat was smooth: I can see that this might be understood as meaning there is no depressed area, but I meant that within the depressed area the colour coat appears to be undamaged.)
