Another variation on a popular run from the Z4 Scottish Chapter.

Starting and finishing in Perth this run takes in the magnificent vistas of the Scottish Cairngorms, trundling through Speyside whilst avoiding most of the A9 which is speed limited and heavily used by tourist and transit traffic. :driving:

Sadly we will be a bit early to have tea with Queen at Balmoral but other cafes will be available. :tumbleweed:

Expected to depart Perth around 09:30 and return there for 17:00.

Expressions of interest gratefully received.

1) PBondar Peter/Mo E89 Yellow
2) Swiftly Nick/Lorraine G29 Red
3) Craig3.2 Craig/ M Roadster Blue
4) Merbrook Tim/Yvonne Alpina Black
5) peeblezZ4 Stuart/Mandy E85 Silver

Sounds interesting, I will need to confirm a bit nearer the time, but can you put me and Lorrain down as a possible

Hi Swiftly of course, just getting these into peoples diaries to allow everyone to do a bit of planning for the year!

The road from Pitlochry over Glenshee to Braemar must be one of the best drives in the uk :driving: id happily spend the day repeating it over & over :) anyone who hasn't done it really should try to make this

Couldn't agree more, done it alot over the years on forum runs and just for fun on my own, never tire of driving the roads up there....but then the rest of Scotland is almost as good, lol.
Spoilt for choice :driving:

Hopefully you can get to one Andy,be nice to see you

Hi Peter, as we are unable to attend Craig's East - West Highland run myself and Yvonne would like to put our names down for this please.
Sounds like a great days drive and would be a good start to our proposed tour around Scotland (Or at least some of it :) ). Many thanks, Tim.

Stuart, great, nice to hear from you..!

Just before I book our accommodation for the Saturday night I was wondering if any one else was staying in Perth that night and if so where? or does anyone have any recommendations?
I have looked at the Premiere Inn and it has limited parking spaces, if these are full you have to use another car park away from the hotel and I'm not too keen on that.
Thanks.

Hello, I’m definitely staying Saturday night, may stay Sunday as it’s 3 hours home and may be tired and emotional..will confirm shortly..

I’m thinking of staying here..

https://www.perthlodge.co.uk/

It’s got relatively good reviews and parking is ok and price why seems competitive with Premier Inn especially taking breakfast into account..

It’s on the right side of town for our trip..

If anyone has a better recommendation I’ll look at it but failing anything else I’ll probably book this tomorrow..

I've now booked myself and Mo into Perth Lodge for a long weekend..did mine via Booking.Com (other booking methods are available)

Thanks for the recommendation Peter. Have just booked our room. :D

Great, we'll see you there, as I said we are coming up on the Friday to do tourist type things around Perth on the Saturday..I'll check but we can probably start from the hotel on Sunday..will save the commute to the startpoint

Having grown up in Perth used to travel the Blairgowrie / Glenshee road frequently, especially in the ski season. A 1275 cooper S and a VW 1600 beetle with ported heads and twin Weber’s in the “convoy” made the trips “Interesting”.
Living in NZ now I’m pretty envious. Enjoy.
