A/C Problem

Hey guys, I have a 2004 Z4 3.0i. When I run the AC on max fan and the coldest setting, the passenger side gets cool (though not ice cold--especially compared to my friend’s 2009 camry). However, the driver’s side, particularly the far-right vent, blows noticeably warmer air—almost room temperature.

Does anyone know what might be causing this? Could it just be low refrigerant?

I would recommend taking it to an aircon specialist, who'll have the equipment to test the system for leaks and other problems and then make sure it's got the right amount of refrigerant in it. That's the only way it'll be 'right'.

Got it, I’ve called around and people seem to suggest a system flush and redoing the refrigerant. Does that sound sane for the issue?

It could be a blending/ diverter valve issue if the air is noticeably cooler on one side than the other. Low refrigerant wouldn't do that. The air temp would still be the same both sides, just not cold enough. For a 'rule of thumb' you should get air out of any vents at around 6-8 deg C if the a/c is properly charged (on an average warm day of say 20-27 deg C). If the air is above 10 deg C you could be low of refrigerant.

Also, for reference, there is no 'flushing' of an a/c circuit either required or possible TBH.
