A/C not working/In transport mode?

My a/c button wouldn't lite up and only minimal forced air (warm to hot) out of the vents when fan control knob at maximum. BMW service determined that: "15049 IHKA in transport mode IBSP (D.S.)," and reset to proper code. Now the question is how did the a/c get into transport mode? The only thing I can relate as possiblay causal is that I recent changed the car's battery. Any thoughts?

I just experienced this myself, and yes, it can be caused by interruption of battery power due to discharge or disconnection. (In my case, I left the lights on overnight.) My battery needed replacement anyway, and the shop reset the system as part of the replacement process.

im planning on purchasing the diag software to do it myself. i dont drive my z4 all winter and the battery regularly goes flat and/or i pull it out to charge (no outlet in my carport)
The nearest dealer is over an hour away so not really convenient to go back to the dealer every time. I've already had transport mode reset once at a cost of $80, not keen on paying that every time. I think purchasing the diag software might be the best option if regularly pulling the battery out.
The dealer last time said the deleted transport mode, but, im in transport mode again after pulling out the battery, so i guess it cant be deleted, or they havent done it right.

Now all i have to work out is the right combination of software and cables for my 2007 Z4 Coupe
im thinking this: http://www.bmwcable.com/ but im not entirely sure if my Z4 is compatible. it mentions only good up to 03/2007 BMW's and i believe mine is 05/2007. Apparently changed their OBDII cable to use D-CAN?? im guessing a different protocol, but im starting to get a bit lost with the terminology.

I'd just love to know the combinations of cables and software i need for the car to reset transport mode.

You need to run DIS v57 (diagnostic software) and can reset transport mode from there.

Bmwcable were very good when I contacted them. If you mail them or call them they'll tell you whether their cable will work or not in your car. The similarly named bmwcables on eBay were nothing short of crap

Delete transport mode is a misnomer. Probably just a poor choice of words. The actual function in DIS is labeled "Disable transport mode" There's no way to make it impossible to be re-enabled. DIS is worth getting if you have a decent computer aptitude. Getting it running is not plug and play.

In DIS it is indeed "Delete" Transport Mode.

Can see it on the screenshots:
