A/C Expansion Valve Location

I have a 2003 2.5 and think I need to replace my A/C Expansion valve.

It looks like the expansion valve is accessible from the engine bay. Right between the Low Pressure valve and the firewall. If so, that is the best design I have ever seen.

Doing research though, I heard I have to take out my glove compartment to access the expansion valve.

Is it possible it is in the engine bay? Can anyone help me clarify where it is?
 
Why do you think you need to replace the expansion valve?
The EV is not a serviceable part. In many years of working on car a/c I have never needed to replace one. Most other things, yes, but never an EV.
 
So I am a little embarrassed to tell you why I think it is the expansion valve. It is such a noobie move.

My A/C wasn't working. I hooked up my poor mans gauge to the low side port (I only have a low side gauge) It showed the A/C wasn't compressing. I used inpa to engage the compressor clutch when the car was off (I could hear it click) I tried when the car was running but it did not engage (No click, no change in speed/sound of engine)

I figured it was a bad compressor. Which means it might have imploded and filled my condenser with junk.

I changed the compressor, condenser and the drier. Same problem. I figured there was a problem when I took off the old compressor and I could hear it make the sucking noise when I spun it.

Now I am down to the expansion valve.

However, as I type this; I wonder if it could be one of the pressure sensors (Though I did not see anything too out of line when I was using inpa)

Any thoughts?
 
I'm a little confused.
What did you do about the refrigerant?
