A brakes question.

Two new calipers plus my bleeding (!!) gadget turned up today. But my strip and grease up from the other day has cured my immediate problem of a wheel that was getting so hot that I burnt my chuffing finger on the disk….
The pistons are in a bad way so if it stops raining for a few hours I’ll get them changed over in the next week or so.
I still need swap the CCV system, might do that first as I’m sick of clouds of smoke following me home 🤣🤣

Tripods work great as 3rd legs.

Leave the old caliper still connected until the new one is in position and quickly switch the banjo bolts over. Then open the bleed nipple on the new caliper and gravity bleed. Once you see fluid, tighten it up and put the tripod / whatever between the steering wheel and brake pedal. Open the bleeder and remove the air. Repeat a couple of times.
There was someone with an extra leg a few years ago, but we're not aloud to talk about him anymore in polite company ;)

Can't beat the wife in the drivers seat cocking up the press/release requests and the psycho argument which follows. Even worth a fake bleed just for the fun of it. But on a serious note I've replaced the hand pump on my bleeder with a schraeder vv, just a quick blast on the airline and you're away.

Cheers for the info about the flexis, it just shows how long its been since i tackled brakes!

The whole job was remarkably easy, bleeding was a piece of cake using the pressure bleeder that was linked earlier.

After a glass of vino, I had a dodgy five minutes reading about how you beat your wife in the passenger seat whilst she dealt with your press/release the cock requests!! And eventually had to replace the hand pump!!!
