A bit of shopping....

I saw your car on the Ring last weekend with the Recaro's installed. With the black on white theme your car was easily the most beautiful Z4MC on the Ring (and pretty fast too, I was passenger of a very crappy looking E30 with E34 M5 engine when you passed us FAST :) ). Absolutely stunning!

Ahh - you should have come and said hello! But thanks for the comments - I truely love the way the car is coming together now. I don't think there's much left that I'd change now. It's the perfect car in my eyes :)

I'm slowly getting to know my way around the track now, after 4 visits and about 60 laps. The new Pagid pads I'd fitted before we left also helped give me a lot more confidence in the car, and meant I was pushing a bit harder this time!

Have you got a pic of the E30? I can't remember the car off the top of my head...

The car looked like the average scrapyard's E30 only this one had a larger engine fitted. It wasn't worth noticing.

I was driving a blue Alpina B10 3.2 Touring that thay. My Roadster S is still in the shop for modifications so I had to do with this car. Maybe we can meet next season when I have a proper car to drive :) .

Are you happy with the Recaro seats? I was thinking about doing this mod too, but it would be nice if a person of different length (specifically my girlfriend - girl driving a heavily modded Z4 is :!: :D ) could drive the car without having to adjust the seat mounting to a different height slot.

How is comfort on long distance travels?

FemmeT,

Ahh ok. Yeah, next season will be great. I plan to pick up a Jahreskarte next year, as I would probably have broken even on price this year, but wasn't sure how many visits I was going to make, but I will certainly be going just as much, if not more next year. The 'Ring bug has definately got to me!

The Recaro's are fantastic. Very, very grippy, and transformed the way I drove the car. With the harnesses as well, I no longer have to grip the wheel tight in the corners to keep myself from sliding around in my seat. Instead, the seat and harnesses now hold me firmly in place, and I can concentrate on steering the car, and the feedback it gives.... one of the best modifications I've made, if I'm honest! As for comfort on long drives, well when we got to the 'Ring I was happy to get out and stretch my legs a bit. They're not as comfortable as the standard seats obviously, but they're still very good. Certainly you could live with them on a day to day basis, I feel.

I'm not very tall - about 173cm (5'7"), and I have no problems with the seats or the height. They are lower than the standard seats, but I like the position - I always used to have the standard seats on their lowest setting anyway...

Hi - was good to meet you at the 'ring (I came and said hi when you were heading off to Spa). Car looks great. Has Kurt got in touch? He was the chap with the blue Z4M on Cups who was interested in the seats and harness bar.

willdew, no - not heard from Kurt yet. Good to meet you as well though!

gwatson, not got any photos yet, but I will have a DVD soon with all the photos the guy got of my car when we did the photo shoot. His pictures will be far better than mine, so I'll post a few up when I get them.. should be in the next few days :)

Sixspeed: thanks for the detailed information!

I'm about to order a pair of Recaro Pole Positions. I hope to receive pricing details from a local Recaro dealer and leather trimming shop for seats, custom leather upholstery with Alpina logo, stitching in Alpina colors and retrofitment of the seat heating elements.

Btw: here's a pic of your car I took at the Nurburgring :) :

Love it! Great pic.

I have grown to hate the nurburgring stickers but even that looks cool on your car. Muststop blowing smoke up your exhaust soon!

FemmeT, love the pic! :D Have you got a higher-res copy I can use as a wallpaper? :D

You'll need the floor mount adapters unless you want to drill into your floorpan. VAC Motorsports (vacmotorsports.com) supplied mine - very helpful guys! They also do the Recaro slider kits, which you might want if you want to adjust the seat back and forth. They also raise the seat by an inch or so, which as you'll probably find when you fit them, isn't a bad thing!

Blacklines, I don't mind the stickers... it's the people that ask me to bring them some back, when they haven't even been to the place that get on my nerves! If your car hasn't done a lap, then it's not worthy. End of!
