A better engine sound from a 3.0l?

Been doing some reading up on getting a decent sound from a straight six and it seems the exhaust bypass is the way to go, fairly simple to do most exhaust specialists should be able to it and depending on what width tubing is used to create the bypass to get the sound I'm after. As I only want a slightly better sound from the straight six the bypass seems perfect.

Difficult to explain sound, but when your giving it a bit sounds great, and having it in sports mode alters the sound, to me sounds like a sports car now, not too loud that everyone cringes, even Mrs M likes it,...result.
All I can say is try it ,

Lots of postings on here about the back box delete and the addresses of exhaust centres where some owners got this mod done. Also plenty of you tube videos, is this the sound you are looking for?

I have a backbox delete fitted which sounds great but unfortunately the drone is bad. How good does a 25mm bypass on the standard 3.0i backbox sound and are there any videos of this?

Yep I think the back box delete is to extreme for me watched a few utube vids and pretty loud with plenty of pops and bangs. It seems a lot of the M3 guys do the back box bypass as it keeps the OM exhaust system and a inexpensive mod.

I believe a user by the name of "machinemonkey" on this forum can do some trickery with the rear exhaust box to free a few decibels - maybe worth a search! :D

I want to ask how much does it cost? Where did you do this job? I want to do it,too. Thanks!
