A Bad Addiction !

Like many here,
I drop into the Forum several times a day.
I poke around seeing what youse are up to, time shifted across the ocean as you prefer to be.
And don't get me wrong, I love my Zed and just want to drive as much as I can.
But
And that's a BIG BUT ...
I always discover some topic of interest that sparks my inner modster.
And as my brain ramps up I get to thinking.
Hey ...
Sounds like a great idea !
Why not me ?
And so it starts.
It could be the stubby, maybe de-badging, something else like side indicator hockey puck slimming.
My state of Zed Equilibrium is disrupted and I am compelled to ..to ???
Well I got past the Z4M Bumper and I couldn't be happier.
Nobody here would be surprised that that one cost about twice what I expected.
That's just being BMW !

And here I sit with future projects swimming around my mind.
A new set of rims ? ...18" staggered, or maybe 19's ?
Tires ? Not Runflats ...Michelin PSS' ?
(Some here might recall I have 3 sets of rims and went with Michelins every time but ????)
Well thanks to so many here ...Particularly one un-named member who has probably had every set of rims ever invented, and in spite of achieving an almost perfect Zed M with wheels to match, sold it off almost immediately to purchase his 4th Zed ???!!!!. Is he the ghost of my future with Zeds ??? )

So, like most addicts, I take that idea and run with it. I couldn't just leave it be. I hit the Kijiji Adverts, You Tube, Ebay, Google and Yahoo searches. Lord forgive me ...even other forums !!!
And what does that achieve except for discovering "deals" that I am frozen, not to act upon.. Similar to going Cold Turkey !

The end result for me at least is ..No new rims but dissatisfaction with the 3 sets of perfectly good rims I have.
Soon I will be considering Brakes and am dreading that wot with the huge variety of cosmetically enhanced rotors and brake pads of all sorts of colours and applications that I am discovering every day here !

I tend to distract with adventures into exhaust modification, dreaming of chopping the back box into pieces and using Harley Davidson Technology to extract a sound that combines the sweet melody interior acoustics with the scream of a scalded witch to those deaf enough to follow too close. Ahh yess.. Thank you Zed 4 Forum and You Tube !!!

So there you have it. I said it all, and I'm positive I am not the only one here guilty of this destructive behaviour.

Cheers to all
Bumpy :tumbleweed:

PS ...
I broke away from searching VMR Rims to thank one and all here for being my Sponsor.
Every mod or advice I have received here has been top notch !!!
If I had started here first time, I wouldn't have found myself as broke or dissatisfied as I am with some of my attempts to improve my Zed. :headbang:

Now back to Google ..

Is that AC Schnitzer or just Schitzer ? .. :?

As a newish Zed owner I must admit that the exhaust note hardly makes a noise. The odd crackle on overdrive but not much more. My previous toy was a turbo Lotus Esprit with a sports exhaust and my god what a noise with backfiring when changing gear. Every time I took the car out it would attract attention ie is it legal to sound that loud. The Zed is a big disappointment on that front but at least you dont get a headache after driving a few miles. I believe some people have butchered the back box and removed padding and at a meet two weeks ago a fellow Zed owner had a big bore exhaust fitted but the sound was pretty feeble.
I just dont think these cars will produce the sound that will get the blood pumping and if they did would probably fail the MOT and you would have to de cat them.

As standard as the day I brought her home 5 years ago and no plans to chage any thing for the sake of it. Moving the roof motor though, think that one may happen shortly, covered under the common sense rule. :D

Hi my name is Mat. And I am a zed addict too!!
I spend vast sums of cash. And put other parts of my life on hold to feed my habit!! My wife even gets jealous of my zed!!

Getting worried that we've heard nothing from MM lately.
Maybe missed you have retired to a sunnier climate the last few weeks

I got my 3.0 exactly how I wanted it. Handled great, looked great. LSD worked an absolute treat. Super fun on track days. So did I keep it and enjoy it.!! No I went and bought an M///

Bloody forum. My names Chris and I'm a Z addict

Had a 2.0 M sport - joined the forum - read all about the 3.0si - dreamed - then one turns up at our local dealers!
Traded up - thought that was it - then started missing my M Sports seats - bought a pair - then read about re-mapping - had it re-mapped - then read about ZHP knobs - bought one - then read about Royal Wheels refurb . . . . you get the picture.
My name is Marlon and I'm a Zed addict

I confess to being addicted to the forum and my Zed, but unlike many I have absolutely no risk of being tempted to do any mods, on the simple basis that I missed out on the spanner-wielding gene.

I replaced the centre caps and small ///M badges on the wheels. I have also cleaned the drain holes. Plucking up the courage to remove the door trim to wrap the rattley locking mechanism in a velvet sleeve, but I have a recurring vision of never putting it all back together!

I purchased a Zed last November.

During that month I spent time here reading. Got to know my Z4 Coupe Steptronic intimately.
2 oil changes later......The project started.....
Since the previous owner "FAILED" to take it to BMW tho they had it for four years, a comprehensive list was checked, ticked off and/or noted for fixes. Luckily, the only ticks bad were a gasket for the oil filter gasket mounting, ball joints(bother upper and lower i was aware of when I first drove it) and the rotors.(Looking to upgrade rotors and calipers.)

This left me able to get a full paint restoration, new mats for the floorboards (trivial), Air conditioner o rings replaced, charged. Ordered some Smoked taillights (waiting on them despite some calling them poop.) Replaced all four wheel arches as they were not only devastated, but the access doors were gone, clips gone or loose.
Refuse to do a stubby, tho I want to but I rely on radio on the road. (not big on CD's tho I have thousands of them)
Like many, issues with condensation in fog lights, which also are not fully mounted, just need to find time to drop the bumper to see why and give a couple drill holes to relive that issue.

Dream of lowering it with better shocks and coils. Want some MM tips, but I'm across the pond( :headbang: )

Want to replace the front bumper to M and a new M Bonnet, it has the suspension and seats so why not?
Not realy happy with the inside trim components, want to high gloss black.....
After up grades I want to sell it to step up to the 2009. Hard top convertible in Montego Blue. It just looks that good to me. Not that I can complain about the way the Coupe in Sapphire Black looks. Its fuggin gorgeous.

My names Blaine, I'm a Z4 Addict.
