991 911

The Z4M coupe is 90% of the 911 for 50% the cost. Had a 997 gen 1 Carrera S 911 and Z4M Coupe for the last 3 years for comparison and the 911 is no doubt a better car but the Z4M Coupe is the dark horse in this race and on the road there is very little difference. But obviously they have very very different characteristics but in terms of power and how quick they feel the Z feels more agile but the 911 is a better drivers car they are neck and neck in terms of straight line speed, until you get to about 135 and the larger displacement takes over.

The 911 is much more comfortable than the Z for a sports car is does float the bumps, but corners like no other being rear wheel drive. Front lift is also a little strange when you gun it and the front wheels go a little vague, get used to it tho

The 35I just isn't any anywhere close, it doesn't fit in the same category and if your after something as you describe the 35 will be disappointing. Its a great car but its just not a sports car, a good, quick GT cruiser.

Funnily enough my Z4M cost more than the 911 to run, service and in issues over the 3 years.

Thanks Tomscott. You gave me more information but I am still not sure about a decision. M Coupe is looking favourite mainly due to purchase cost against the 997.2 There aren't any decent ones under £40K.

He you will struggle to find a good gen 2 for less than 40k and the gts is still bringing well over 50k many 60 because they are favourable compared to the 991 with it being a lot more refined, quiet, bigger and the electric steering. It is probably the least favourable 911 apart from the 996 to date, really been struggling to sell them. Sort of missing the benchmark the purists are used to. Saying that when we went to test drive one I loved it really great balance but didn't seem as roar as the 997, but an incredible car I would have one in a heartbeat.

Plus the max you will pay for a Z4M is 20-22k for a complete garage queen with barely any miles so what would you spend the change on? ;)! 20k is a lot to save...

The porsche sound is sooo disappointing though.

I have to admit this year has been the only year i have started to like the porsche design. Sort the sound out though porsche

I'm a bit disappointed in the 991. I don't think it's particularly good-looking and it is far too expensive. I cannot see the justification for the extra price of the Carrera over a Cayman GTS. That's why they've struggled to shift them. I don't doubt it is a fabulous car to drive and own but so is a Cayman. It's a big premium for 2 seats and about 15hp more. They've moved it into a segment it's never been in before - it's a GT more than a sports car now. It's not greater than the sum of its parts.

As usual I think the GT3 is by far the best value model in the range and will be the one that holds its value best too.

I've had a 35is , 911 C2S and M Coupe('s)

35is DCT its Rapid .. great tech lovely place to be and looks really smart its just a lovely car... exhaust is not that great a little dull IMO yeah you get the odd pop or bang ... the biggest issue is it handles like a troll its awful and really is a tourer not a sports car. The power is amazing from 340 bhp it really delivers and surprised me how usable it was

911 C2S - Just amazing and everything thats been said already, but mine was a gen1 , I would hold out for a gen 2... tbh 35kish will get you a nice gen 2 if you look hard and 40k would get you something really special. If I had the dollar thats what i would be getting even consider a 3.6 gen2 as the output is the same almost as a 3.8s gen 1

M Coupe - Whats been said already unbelievable value for money , and makes porkers look expensive

If I had your budget there is not a chance in a month of Sundays I would be buying a e89 at that price when you could get a sorted used for mid teens. The depreciation would be punchy and something I could not stomach , I would be scraping a few more quid together and get a Porker
