9897 9917 AIRBAG LIGHT

Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue with the airbag system on my BMW Z4 E85.
I have the following faults that won’t clear:
9897 – SBSL
9917 – SBSR
From what I’ve found, this seems to be a known software issue (EAM parameter inconsistent) on this model.
The airbag light is on and the faults come back immediately after clearing.

Tools I have

    • K+DCAN cable
    • INPA
    • WinKFP
I’m still a beginner with these tools, so if anyone has had this issue before or knows the exact procedure (flashing SBSL/SBSR or another fix) to resolve these faults, I would really appreciate the help. And where i can find the good sp-data ?

Thank you very much
🙏

Get the part numbers of your modules.
Put those numbers into Realoem and it will show you the list of compatible ones.
Make a note of the most up to date part numbers for each module.
Then use the instructions above to re-code your modules to the latest part numbers.
You will probably have to use the 'alternative' method with WinKFP.
Follow the whole process through to the end.
You will then find errors in all three modules for 'Timeouts'. This is because the modules haven't checked in with each other during the recoding. Can easily all be cleared in INPA.
