Does anybody think there's any advantage in performance or,less importantly,economy on using 97 compared to 95? I tried it when the car was new and didn't really give it a chance but as it's now done 12000 miles and i am more aggressive with the accelerator wondered if it would now make a noticeable difference other than a psychological one.

My previous Golf and current Alpina both knocked if I used 95. The Golf was fussy with 97 and preferred 99. It actually stated minimum 97 on the fuel filler cap. I think the fuel economy thing is hokum though.
My Scirocco knocks or pinks on 95, didnt try 97 long enough to find out. Always used 99 VPower since.
