Someone posted this picture of a 1960's BMW 2800 GTS on another forum. Beautiful car , Ive never seen one before. More than a passing resemblance to the e86 especially with the slightly more subtle haunches at the rear. :driving: Screenshot 2020-03-20 at 12.59.55.png

Well , it was posted up on the e86 owners club forum with several other photos and It's been described as a full nut & bolt restoration (?)

Good looking car, first time seen for me too. Has a ring of Datsun 240/260 about it, which is no bad thing.

A modern day so called off roader, would kill for that ground clearance too. :poke:

I think maybe it’s a full restoration of a concept car? :?

Looks like it was designed by the same guy who designed the latest Discovery :D

Nah don't like it. Looks like an old Alfa from the front and a mix of Datsun and Fiat at the back. And what's with the off centre badge?
If that was a concept car, I can see why it didn't see the light of day. That Similar GTE of similar vintage looks much more appealing in my eyes. Still, each to their own...

Although I quite like it I think the E9 model CS of that era looks way better!

looks as if its the 80's big six engine to me. Unsure if it was around in the 60's ? I may of course be totally wrong :?

It's one of many 1960/70s Frua styling exercises for BMW.
"In 1963, at the peak of his career, 50 year old Pietro Frua designed a range of cars for Glas, Germany's smallest car-maker. This included the GT Coupé and Cabriolet as well as the larger V8-engined 2600, often called "Glaserati" for its resemblance to Frua's Maserati-designs. These were built until 1968 as the BMW GT, after BMW had bought Glas"
I think most of them are pretty good especially the silver BMW 3000 Fastback Coupe  1968_Frua_BMW_2000_ti_03.jpgbmw frua.jpg1976-frua-bmw-528-gt-coupe-06.jpg2800_Frua_Mutschler_002-696x422.jpg1976-frua-bmw-528-gt-coupe-02.jpgS0-Concours-d-Elegance-Villa-d-Este-quelques-raretes-73259.jpgbmw_3000_frua_fastback_voorzijde.jpg1967-BMW-Glas-V8-Fastback-Frua-5.jpg1280px-Glas_V8_BW_2.jpg

Interesting car, thanks for sharing.

Reminds me of 60's/70's Maseratis (Ghibli / Bora) and the Alfa Montreal.

 Engine looks like the M30 with twin carbs (M30B28V) - that's been around since the late 60's.
