911 question

I doubt that car was like that when it left the factory , probably added later :wink:
Decent dealer , great colour & spec + any aerokit always creates interest . I suspect the same car same dealer without kit would be £3/£4k less so they are heavily loading it ?
For a early 997 on 70k from reputable dealer i would want to be closer to £22k & around £20k private
The kitted 911's eventually sell for similar to standard but that would depend how long you planned to keep it
There are even many articles in the mags that suggest they devalue a genuine 911 in the "why dress your car up to be something it isn't? " mentality
I paid £13k for a 996 with GT3 kit in 2011 because i liked it & standard cars were not much difference ( £500/£1000 ? )

Seems like reasonable value to me, the 997 aero kit cars always seem to drive a few £k premium over standard cars. Good colour and spec as well and dealer is well known and very well respected.

Just watch out for that front splitter! They are deceptively low and will scrape on inclines, speed humps and in multi-stories. I've got so fed up with scraping mine I've gone as far as ordering a front lift kit which adds hydraulics to lift nose of car when needed. (Bit excessive I know, but very cool)
Have you tried some of the 911 forums e.g. 911uk.com, lots of people around who'll be able to provide sound advice.

Lot of money for a 9 year old car with nearly 70k miles but then it's a 911 - if you can afford the running costs then go for it - it's certainly stands out
Personally I'm not a fan of add on aero kits - to me the beauty of these cars lie in the subtle clean lines of originality .

the specification does look pretty good, I work on plenty of these so in regards to the areo kit I'd want to check its been fitted properly, its barely 15 minutes to remove a bumper from a 911, Boxster or a Cayman and just as easy to put back on again so there's no excuse for any screws/clips missing.
Otherwise, Porsche's wear miles extremely well as long as its been serviced regularly and to a good standard, so if this had been done the mileage shouldn't be any issue, obviously this ones averaged a bit over 8000 miles a year so hardly outrageous.
Its tricky to tell too much without actually seeing it so as long as everything is honest and checks out, whats not to like?
These cars are durable, a good one will be happy to potter through town, take a turn at a race track or tour long distances swiftly and comfortably, you can leave it outside in the rain and still expect it to work in the morning. So don't listen to anyone trying to tell you otherwise!

The seats in Porkas never look very sporty, or supportive unless its a GT3 etc. Are they any good?

Although all of them are perfectly good for a long journey and if you have the sports seats, then there all brilliant and the GT3 seats are better again.
That's what I've found though of course, a lot of it is simply down to personal opinion and physical build!
I've got hardback sports seats in my 997T. they are more supportive than my E89 Z4 sports seats. they aren't well suited to larger or broad shouldered people because of the side and top bolsters.CornishRob said:
As has been said earlier, 911 virgin have a great rep as a Porsche Independent. the 911uk is a great source of info.
NB: might not matter to you, but i discovered that unless a car has seat memory, the passenger mirror won't go down when reversing. this is a feature i couldn't live without when parking to keep those lovely alloys safe from kerbing.
