90 inch wide garage-

Where have you moved to Andy?

I have a garage now (finally), but due to the motorbike and bits, I leave the car on the drive. I'm not concerned with needing to hide it, the area isn't bad, but leaving it in the garage would keep it cleaner longer

hi andy, i have a garage that has an opening of 83'' and inside, the smallest point measures 93''.

i've attached some foam to the wall that i got free from work, and it works wonders. it means i can rest the door on the foam without fear of damaging it.

here's some pics for you:

obviously that's 3'' wider than yours, so gives you an idea how it will fit in.

My favourite narrow garage parking clip:

I couldn't help but notice that you all drive into your garages, am I the only one who reverses in?

I only ever reverse onto the drive. I'd feel like a bad driver if people saw it facing the wrong way

wouldn't make sense for me as my rear entry (ooh er) door is on the right side, so reversing in would mean blocking the access i have from front to back.

Good point

Winch attached to the back of the garage....

That panda video is hilarious! Buy that man a smart car!

This has got me thinking..I'm trying to buy a house right now. One of the main points for me was that it has a garage. I did think it looked a bit small. I might do a 3rd viewing and request trying to get the Zed in and then trying to get out of it. Hmmm.

I'd look at the garage first then see if the house is suitable Ruby :)

Mine is 98" wide btw

Ditto that, our criteria when looking for our new house a few years ago was a side by side double garage, a max budget of X and a village location with a red telephone box.

There were two houses in the whole of Leicestershire which met our requirements!! (one of which we bought).

Modern garages are tiny.

My wife is a planning officer at our local council and to be considered a parking space, integrated garages on new houses used to have to be 5m x 2.5m, but recently the rules have just changed to be 6m x 2.75m.

Every council is different regarding this, but it's very much worth checking the local rules out if you're buying a new build.

New house builders never consider a garage actually being used for a car. Only when you buy a bigger house with a double you get proper consideration.

Land is money and it seems that parking a car in a garage is deemed non essential to many :(

Integral garages are a joke. We ended up converting the existing garages (two singles) into other rooms and are now in the process of building a "proper" garage at the other side of the house:

Internal measurements are 5.1m wide by 5.5m long, so plenty of space for #108 :D

Tapatalking...
