A few weeks back I enjoyed a lovely week in the South of France, including a memorable visit to Monaco to watch the historic grand prix. It was the 8th running of the event, and occurs every two years a fortnight before the F1 boys race their way around the Principality. The cars ranged from early 1950's through to mid-80's F1 and F3.

Anyway enjoy the photos and I can recommend it if you are ever down that way....

And to end the day, a stop-off in lovely Villefranche Sur-Mer for dinner.

Fantastic - you had a peach of a seat at the chicane as well

I do ave an ambition o spend the Monaco GP getting slowly slaughtered on the back of a gin palace moored up next to the track. Never happen, but a lovely dream 8)

For about 1,500 euros each you could do precisely that Bing!

Like a lot of F1 races, at Monaco to be there in person is so much better than watching on TV. What you don't realise until you go is how close the start/finish straight is to the swimming pool complex - so as they are on the grid you can hear the terrific noise and as they roar up to Casino Square. Brilliant atmosphere, almost (but not quite) makes up for the lack of overtaking.

If the drinks are included in that then it's on my Lottery Win list

If not then it's a crap deal

Turns out a friend's son (Rob Austin) was racing here. He normally races Audi A4's in the BTCC.
